Russian Symphony Orchestra

Alexander Anissimov is well-known both in Russia and abroad. He is the chief conductor of the Belorussia Grand Theatre in Minsk and the chief conductor of the Irish National Orchestra in Dublin.

Having graduated from St. Petersburg and Moscow Conservatoires he completed a post-graduate programme at the Moscow Conservatoire under the guidance of Professors L. Ginsburg and G. Rozhdestvensky. For 25 years of his artistic career he has been performing a lot as a concert and opera conductor. At present he combines his work as the conductor-in-chief at the Belorussian Grand Opera and Ballet theatre with being a guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

His repertoire comprises about 20 programs of symphony music and more than 50 operas. The conductor tours a lot.

Alexander Amissimov and the National Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Naxos firm has made CD recordings of all symphonies by S. Rachmaninoff. He has also recorded concert programs with the Colon Theatre orchestra. The conductor has been awarded an honorary title - Honoured Art Worker of Russia and the State Prize of Belorussia.

Alexander Anissimov toured of Japan with the Russian Symphony Orchestra.

A tour of the Royal London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of M-tro Anissimov at the festival Colombo-500 became a great event in the culture life of Spain. The War Requiem by Britten was conducted by M. Rostropovich and Alexander Anissimov in Madrid, Bilbao, Seville. In March, 1995, he conducted the Russian National Orchestra at Montserrat Caballé's gala concert in the Kremlin, Moscow. The Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Symphony Orchestra in Rome presented Maestro Anissimov the Leo Bernstein's baton as a token of recognition of his talent. The mass media has greatly appreciated his works abroad - "War and Peace" by Prokofiev (San Francisco), "Don Carlos" by Verdi (Genova), "Cherevichki" by Tchaikovsky and "Demon" by Rubinstein (Wexford), "Boris Godunov" by Mussorgsky (Venice), "Eugene Onegin" at Opera Batsille (Paris), "Prince Igor" by Borodin at the St. Francisco Opera House, CD recordings with the Irish National Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Naxos firm of all symphonies by S. Rachmaninoff, concert programmes performed with the Philharmonica symphony orchestra at the Colon Theatre.
